A ready-made armchair comes in a fixed frame size, arm style and one or two fabric options. A bespoke armchair is built to your chosen dimensions, arm and leg style, frame construction and upholstery, specified for the room it's going into.
A kiln-dried hardwood frame, joined and reinforced at every stress point, seat, arm and back, since that joinery is what determines whether the chair still feels solid after years of daily use, not just on the showroom floor.
Foam density and layering are chosen for how the chair is actually going to be used, a firmer seat foam for an everyday reading chair, a softer build for an occasional accent piece, rather than one standard fill used across every order.
