What size chandelier do I need?
Add the room length and width in metres and multiply by 10. The result is a good chandelier diameter in centimetres, so a 5 x 6 m room suits about 110 cm. Keep at least 210 cm clear between the floor and the bottom of the fitting in walkways.
Which chandelier suits a double-height villa entrance?
A tiered, cascading or multi-pendant chandelier that fills the vertical space. Hang it so the bottom sits roughly level with the first-floor landing, or at least 240 cm above the floor, so it reads from both levels.
How high should a pendant hang over a dining table?
The bottom of the fitting should sit 75 to 90 cm above the table top and span about half to two thirds of the table length. Long dining tables look best with two or three pendants in a row.
How do I layer lighting in a room?
Use three layers. Ambient light, from chandeliers or ceiling fittings, lights the room. Task light, from table and floor lamps, lights reading and working areas. Accent light, from wall sconces and picture lights, adds depth. Put each layer on its own switch or dimmer.
Where should a floor lamp go?
Beside or just behind the sofa arm or a reading chair, so light falls over the shoulder. Arc lamps can reach over a seat from further back. Keep the shade bottom just above eye level when seated.
How high should wall sconces be mounted?
In living rooms and hallways, 150 to 170 cm from the floor. Beside a bed, 40 to 50 cm above the mattress top works for reading. Pairs should sit at equal heights and spacing.
Which colour temperature suits a home?
Warm white, 2700K to 3000K, suits living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. Neutral white, around 4000K, suits kitchens and dressing areas. Beside the bed, pair a warm dimmable lamp with bedside tables sized to hold it.
Brass, glass or alabaster?
Brass gives warm reflections and suits classic and modern interiors alike. Glass fittings range from clear, which sparkles, to frosted, which softens. Alabaster diffuses light with a natural stone glow and suits calm, minimal rooms.
Are your lights dimmable?
[Confirm per model.] For dimming, use LED bulbs marked dimmable and a compatible dimmer switch, otherwise lights may flicker or hum.
Will the lights work in my country?
UAE homes run on 220 to 240 V, which also suits the Gulf, the wider Middle East and most of Africa. For 110 to 120 V markets, including the US, Canada and parts of Latin America, [confirm: fittings are wired and certified for local voltage].
